Hema Mistry is a Programme Coordinator at GroupM who is transforming learner experience for all apprenticeships, mentoring and sponsorship programmes across the business. New to the media industry, Hema has made herself at home through curiosity and sheer determination by developing new standards for success. Currently, Hema is developing digital learning pathways for early talent by inspiring subject matter experts for the need for an equitable and accessible start in the business.
Hema is an alumnus of the first Visible Start programme and a brilliant advocate for the initiative. A well-versed speaker, Hema has delivered multiple panel discussions including alongside Mark Read, CEO of WPP. Hema is also a valuable mentor for all Visible Start alumini, providing encouragement, connections and guidance.
Hema has worked with Youth Parliament, in educational settings, plus roles in the public and private sectors while balancing multiple responsibilities in her personal life. Despite challenges, Hema has navigated her way to achieving a first-class Degree in Childhood and Youth Studies with Honours, and led borough-wide projects that have improved services and created an equitable focus for children, young people, and their families.
Hema is also a gardening enthusiast and loves sharing her passion with a global community of now over 45K followers on Instagram @growwithhema
Nature and sustainability are her key values and as such, follows organic permaculture principles in growing her own food in her back garden in north-west London. Hema has a close affinity with Northwick Park Community Garden, where she supports the development of a Permaculture Food Forest in the London Borough of Brent, working closely with the trustees and volunteers of all ages, abilities and a variety of communities.
Shhh … and a lot of her plants have also made it to work to travel to new gardens!
