IDNML
Sophie is Director of Strategic Content Partnerships for The Independent and The Evening Standard. A seasoned partnerships professional, Sophie is regarded in news publishing for her expertise in syndication, licensing and all aspects of content monetisation and leveraging commercial IP. She joined the business in 2019, after a successful tenure with Telegraph Media Group, where she was Content Partnerships Director.
During her twelve years with TMG, Sophie transformed the syndication business to pivot to ‘digital-first’; successfully managing a period of profitable growth for The Telegraph's highly regarded print and digital portfolios. Sophie was acknowledged for bringing the Telegraph’s coveted 160-year news archive to life through a commercial partnership, enabling unprecedented access to previously unpublished material. She presided over many successful launches: the publisher’s first Kindle edition, UK launch partner on Microsoft’s news portal and multiple other multi-channel initiatives, including launching an awardwinning licensed retail range for the popular Matt Cartoon.
Sophie is a Board Director with NLA Media Access for The Independent and The Evening Standard and brings her respected knowledge of rights and licensing to the fore in an evolving content marketplace. Prior to being in news media, Sophie held senior management roles in stock photography; latterly with Getty Images, where her Nordic & Benelux teams pioneered successful sponsorship of Cannes Young Lions competitions. Sophie’s career spans direct sales, marketing and managing multi-channel partnerships.
